Just noticed the photo for "Our Tours" on the front page has Rick sporting a very nice scarf, which I don't think I've ever seen before. After all these years, he looks very European :)
Yep, he started wearing one last year I believe. Even around the office here in Edmonds!
He's finally acknowledged what most of us have known for years... Europeans do, in fact, wear shorts when it gets hot. Wardrobe change to follow, Mr. Steves?
As long as he loses the sweater-around-the-shoulders look. ;-)
now he just needs to start wearing socks with his sandals for that true European look.
And WHAT? No scarf on the "travel accessories" section of the Rick Steve's Shop Online site? Is this a missed revenue generator for Europe Thru the Back Door? Then, of course, there could be the accompanying guidebook on "how" to wear said scarf :) This could all morph into Rick's entire clothing line. Giggle, giggle.
Will there be a scarf tying class?
Even Rick wants to look like a local ;) I wear a scarf at home since my first trip to Europe. I tend to wear it on cooler nights as opposed to guys in the Marais who wear them no matter how warm it is. I wear an unconstructed sport coat and sometimes a scarf when I travel. They may not mistake me for a local but they don't see me as an American yokel.
well I have lived in Europe for 60 years and never worn a scarf.
What next, those ugly pointy-toed shoes?
Margaret, I was just thinking the same thing!
How great would that be, to have a selection of scarves available on the Rick Steves Shop pages?! Terrific idea.
About Rick in a scarf....looking dashing and handsome, as always!
Happy to see him wearing normal jeans instead of those docker trousers.
In his newest travel tips show he says he packs a pair of jeans!
Honestly, with all the questions that get asked here about clothing and walking shoes, I think Rick could easily expand his "empire" into clothing and shoes! Or at least collaborate with a popular brand like Keen or Clarks to create a Rick Steves shoe or something. All that walking around Europe, he's basically an athlete!
Rick should have his own line of pants with zip off legs, Tilly hats and Tiva sandals. Has anyone ever been on a tour and not seen all three? ;)
His clothes could have built in money belts! Complementary clothesline for sink washing with each purchase.
