Rick's Universal European Adapter -- Safe for iPods and iPads?

Hi all, About to head over and will NOT be bringing a computer, but only iPod and iPads. Anyone have any experience using the Adapter sold in Rick Steve's store? Has anyone used it with an iPod or iPad and lived to tell the tale? Thanks!

I have used the $1 adaptor sold at the RS store with both my iPod and iPad with no problems.

I have; no problems. The only function they have is to change the shape of the plug in order to fit the outlet - nothing else 'electrical' is happening like with convertors/transformers, for instance. Use with confidence :-)

Jim, Are you planning to use the RS Universal European Adapter solely as a Plug Adapter, or are you planning to use the USB supply that's included with it to charge your iPod and iPad??? If you're planning to use the USB supply, it should work fine for charging your iPod, but I'm not sure it has sufficient capacity to power an iPad. All iPad models are supplied with a 10-watt Charger, which has more capacity than that used for smaller Apple products. It's possible that charging the iPad will overload and burn-out the USB Charger in the Universal Adaptor. In the same situation, I'd pack along the Charger supplied with your iPad, as it can also be used for iPods. I'd also pack along a "normal" Plug Adapter (always good to have a "backup"). Happy travels!
