Returning home from Europe with Nexus Pass to JFK

We don't have Global Pass, but we do each have Nexus passes. I've heard they can help speed you through on the way back in to the States, but can only find confusing info about it online. Has anyone done this and can tell us what to look for? We land in JFK...

Thanks!

Nexus includes Global Entry - it's automatic with Nexus approval. Upon on arrival at JFK you make your way to the immigration/passport check along with the rest of the plane but once you get there you can use the Global Entry kiosks. These are computer screens and usually have very short lines, compared to the regular line. Put your nexus card in the machine as directed, answer the questions, have it scan your eye (iris scan), and it prints a paper. Hand in the paper on the way out of the immigration hall and you're set.

If it can't recognize your iris or your answers suggest you need further screening then the paper it prints will have an X on it and at that point you have to go to a person. Not the regular line, if I recall correctly there is an agent for this type of processing near the exit.

I've heard some Nexus offices don't do the iris scan on approval. If you didn't get that, then you can still use the kiosk but it will print the form with an X so you will have to go to the agent at the end. That line will still be much shorter. My kids were too young for the iris scan to work when we got ours so we always have to go to the agent after. Still saves a ton of time.

Super helpful! We didn't get Iris scanned either but it helps to know it's still worth it to go through that way!
Thanks!
