Return Flight: Berlin-Toronto-USA

My return Air Canada flight from Europe departs Berlin and stops in Toronto and I have to switch planes to come back to the USA.

My question is I have one hour and a half to make the transfer. I never have had an international flight with an additional different international stop. Do I have the go through US customs, Canadian customs, security all over again?

Thank you.

You have to go through both Canadian and USA immigration and customs and then security in Toronto. If you miss the flight the Air Canada will put you on the next available. 1 hour and 30 minutes is enough time otherwise air Canada could not sell you a ticket that way.

The first answer is not completely correct, since it appears you are flying on Air Canada and you have booked this on one ticket.

If that's the case, you will need to pass through security and US passport control in Toronto, but you will not need to pass through Canadian immigration (same information on the Toronto airport website, with ORD picked as a random US destination). International-to-US connections that use terminal 1 at Pearson do not require clearing Canadian passport control.

If either of those conditions are not true though (your onward flight is not Air Canada and/or you have booked this separately) then the answer may differ and you may have to also clear Canadian passport control.

adding to what Andrew said, it depends on where you're final destination is. Some Air Canada flights go to US destinations from another terminal. I recall there being an expedited Canadian immigration (no customs) path for transiting passengers.

Pearson is a pretty efficient airport and you should have comfortable time even if you have to take a hike to a different terminal. But that's all theory. No airline can guarantee a connection because they can't guarantee the weather (and they sell tickets as if they could). A stiff headwind trans-Atlantic could easily knock your transit time down by half an hour or more. Expect a security screening of any hand luggage for the second flight too.

Final destination is DFW and yes I purchased both tickets together thru air Canada via Expedia.

Some Air Canada flights go to US destinations from another terminal.

All Air Canada flights operate out of a single terminal (T1) at Pearson, regardless of destination -- as they state on their website, all Air Canada flights are gated at Terminal 1.

The connections process at YYZ has changed over the last several years, as the airport has worked to improve the process for those making connections, particularly to/from the US.

Since you've confirmed it's all Air Canada and all on one ticket, you will clear security re-screening and US immigration at Pearson, but you won't need to clear Canadian immigration or pick up your checked bag. (There's a system in place where the US customs officer can retrieve your bag if necessary, but normally you don't have to get your bag at all).
