Hi folks, I am heading to these three cities in late September and would like to have your input. I am a budget traveller so 20 to 30 EURO a meal is what I am looking at. Of course anything under 20 EURO is also welcome. Thanks in advance!
For Frankfurt, I doubt that you will need to pay 20-30 euro for a meal unless you are going for a bit higher class restaurant. May I assume that you would like German style food while in Frankfurt? My favorite German restaurants here are Dauth Schneiders, Atschel, Zur Sonne, Apfelwein Solze, and Zur Schoene Muellerin. These are all applewine gardens type places. Do try the Gruene Sosse while you are here, or the Rippchen with Kraut. Lots of good Riesling wine here too, but you might like the apfelwein, some do and some don't. There may be some Federweiser fests going on, and this is a white wine that is stilll working, so don't have more than a glass or 2. It is traditionally served with an onion tart. The combination of these two items can be a bit of a problem occasionally. http://www.zursonne-frankfurt.de/ http://www.solzer-frankfurt.de/engl/ http://www.dauth-schneider.de/english/history.htm http://www.schoene-muellerin.de/englisch/index-e.htm
Thanks Jo, you are always of great help!
For Frankfurt one of my favorites is Zum Lahmer Esel.... www.lahmer-esel.de Great food and lots of history.
I had fantastic Grunersosse at Dauth Schneiders in Frankfurt so I can totally second that recommendation. And the prices are very fair there. I ate at another restaurant in Frankfurt that was OK, but overpriced by comparison so I don't really think it's worth recommending.
Thank you very much! So any recommendation for Zurich and Milan?
