Requirement for Entry into .... well, pick a country.

Sometimes I forget my own advice.

I will be returning to Montenegro this year, as soon as it warms up. I have a acquaintance who wants to travel with me. But my acquaintance, while a Hungarian resident is neither European nor American. So, naturally the question of visa requirement comes up. I looked on the Montenegro websites, I wrote the Montenegro Consulate, and I did an internet search and got conflicting “impressions” but never a direct answer. Without the Hungarian residency the answer was yes, a Visa is required, but the rumor was with the Hungarian residency, no, a Visa was not required.

Like I said, sometimes I forget my own advice. The IATA is the organization that the airlines (most if not all) use to check you before you are permitted to board. Fortunately the IATA has a consumer portal with the same information access: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/ In the case of my acquaintance its 30 days in Montenegro without a Visa thanks to the Hungarian residency. I checked BiH while I was at it, some rules. Very nice of them.

I point this out for anyone traveling that has a question about length of stay or documents needed to enter, or entry and exit taxes or passport validity period for arrival or ….. It’s all there. Do be careful to use all the drop-down arrows to find all the information. Its not the government source, but sometimes it’s about as close as you can get.

Oh, let me qualify something. If I were flying from the US, then somehow, someway, I would get something in writing from an embassy or consulate. But this is a 30 euro flight from Budapest.
