We are traveling to Barcelona from August 24 to September 22.
29 nights.
We have been looking for a flat to rent. We have gone to all the websites that come up on 'google'. we are surprised at how difficult it has been to find something around $1500.
Are we being naive ? Does anyone have some suggestions besides 'googling' apartment rental Barcelona?
Any and all advice is welcome.

Try homelidays.co.uk, a clearinghouse for people who want to put their places up for rent. For $375/week, you'll probably find something quite small and probabply not in the downtown area.

We just rented a lovely apartment through Enjoy Barcelona and were thrilled with everything from the service to the actual apartment. I believe they may have some deals if you're willing to stay outside the city center.
Also, a colleague of mine (originally from Barcelona) at our university has a brother who runs a guest house/self-catering apartments. I have no personal experience with them but thought I'd pass it along for your own research: http://www.residenciaustralia.com/

We stayed in Sitges, down the coast to the southwest of Barcelona (about a 40 minute train ride). This is a really nice beach community and also an Artist colony. Do a google search and see what you can find. Good Luck!

We have found a very good rental site called VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) where you rent through the owner, with no "middleman". We have also found very nice apartments in Barcelona through
http://www.apartmentsbcn.net. They have many apartments there!
