Recommend a good travel wallet please...

I need to purchase at least two of these and a unisex style is therefore preferred. It needs to be lightweight and comfortable. It also needs to be roomy enough to hold a passport and a few examples of the local tender. Are there any that are secure yet accessible and that will hold up under practical use? The reviews I'm reading on Amazon don't seem to put one ahead of the other. Almost every one of them has a review citing poor construction, discomfort while wearing, etc. Suggestions please.

Mark,
I read the same articles/reviews as you and settled for Rick Steve's "Hidden Pocket." No elastic and it won't be resting against my skin. I haven't seen anything that is both secure and accessible. As for my daily cash needs - that's going in a buttoned shirt pocket. If you are traveling with a female companion - I was surprised when my sister said she doesn't even carry a purse in the popular tourist areas.

Good luck!

Eagle Creek's version of the Hidden pocket is also good. I got my first one in 1991 and my second one this year. The first is still usable but I decided to treat myself to a new one after 18 years.

Mark, The web was a waste of time for me. Check any good local luggage store. The one I have is very simple and dull, so you won't want to use it as fashion statement. Its beige and thin and made with a soft wicking mat. on the inside/against skin and rip-stop nylon on the front. 2 pockets, 1,4"x6" & 5"x9", good for cc,s, cash and passports You can wear it under your shirt, over one shoulder, etc. Ths name on it is; EasyGo.

Good Luck..

Mark,

Are you referring to a "Wallet" or a "Money Belt"? I use both when travelling, so would need to know which one you have in mind?

For Money Belts, you could have a look at the RS products on this website (click the "Travel Store" tab at the top, or models from Eagle Creek. You might also check Magellans as they have a good selection of various models, including some that attach to the lower leg.

If you want information on Wallets (not exactly a "unisex" item), post another note.

Cheers!

I am with Ken as to what your true question is. While I carry a standard billfold when I am home. When I travel I stopped carrying a billfold years ago. I do use a money belt for the usual backup stuff and extra cash. But for my daily cash I just carry a little cash with a money clip in a secured pocket and a credit/debit (depending on anticipated need) in another secure pocket. Your comment -- secure yet accessible -- bothers me a bit. Remember, the easier it is for you to access it, the easier it is for someone to get to it.

Mark,

I agree with Frank II - it would be nice to know what type of "wallet" you decided on.

One item to add to my previous post regarding Wallets. I decided to be a bit more "security conscious" on my trip this year, and thought I'd try a PacSafe Wallet for my daily operating cash. As with other PacSafe products, it was a well constructed product.

As with past trips, I didn't experience any "theft" problems but it was quite reassuring to know that even if someone did get the wallet out of my pocket, they wouldn't get far with it!

Cheers!
