Here's what the TSA says is restricted:
Razor-Type Blades - such as box cutters, utility knives, razor blades not in a cartridge, but excluding safety razors.
There may be people here on the helpline who have had experience with taking them through security. It looks like there's a bit of gray area, may be better to play it safe and just buy some when you get there.
I've taken a disposable razor in my carryon for my last three trips (2007, 2008, 2009). They've never asked me; I've never told, but I assume they can see it on the X-ray (10 times).
Disposable razors are allowed in your carryon. Their blades are enclosed in a cartridge.
I always travel with a disposable razor and have never had a problem with it being in my carry on.
Disposable razors are fine. There was a period, right after 9/11, when no razors were allowed but that's gone now.
The only thing I still can't carry-on is a swiss army knife.
Along the same lines....
How about tweezers and nail clippers. I know these were not allowed on carryons soon after 9/11. Does anyone know if they are allowed now?
Yes, they are allowed.
This is the TSA list.
