quiet hotel in bern near the train station

we are in Bern for one night before we head back to Paris then London for the night before our return home
we will only be in Bern from mid day on... we don't want to be far from the train as we need to catch it early the next morning but don't want to pay a fortune either... I have seen some reviews for a few places that say they are very noisy which since we are very light sleepers would not be best... if anyone has stayed near the train station or near transport that can take us to the train easily on a Sunday AM .. that is quiet and reasonably priced I would appreciate the recommendation:)

You might be asking for a lot to be near the train station. According to www.tripadvisor.com, there are 35 hotels in Bern. The Hotel City am Bahnhof is right across the street from the train station. It's rated 25 out of 35 hotels on Tripadvisor. The home web page says 'quiet rooms". The reviews say different. So, I'm betting this doesn't work. Try www.venere.com and put in Bern. You'll see lots of choices. Most have maps that show how close to the rail station they are. I have not stayed in Bern so I can only do my basic research. Perhaps others will provide direct experience.

The passenger trains in Switzerland stop running around midnight. I don't know how they would make so much noise as to keep one awake overnight. They're electric not noisy diesel freight trains with loud horns, like we have here in the US.

I have done a lot of research already and have found that reviews are bad for so many hotels in the area around the train station either they say the hotel is dirty or noisy from the street outside not so much the trains other complaints include too hot or too cold or uncomfortable beds The prices are very high for all those complaints I was hoping someone had a good experience with a smaller less known hotel or is that may not be on the internet I did find 2 places that are not near the train but have excellent reviews and are fairly reasonable if I can't find a decent place closer we will go with 1 of them
thank you for your replies in your research_

My memory of the area around the station is that it is not the most pleasant of places. We always stay out a bit at the end of the streetcar line in either the Novotel or Ibis which share the same building near the show ground.
