quick-dry men's underwear

Does Rick Steves still sell the quick-dry jockey shorts and tee shirts for men? Can I get on the mailing list for the product catalog?

I believe the exofficio are availble at REI, he just used his REI dividend for a couple more pairs.

ExOfficio. Magellans had this on sale recently, maybe they still do.

michael, I use Tilley clothing extensively during travel, not only underwear but pants, shirts and of course the famous Tilley Hat as it has an exceptional SPF rating. I had looked at Ex Officio in the past, but they seem to have a problem even shipping a catalogue to Canada so I won't be doing any business with them. Cheers!

Yep, ExOfficio is the way to go. Bought a few pairs of shorts for the hubby for travel, but he uses them every day. So far lasted 3 years. Expensive, but worth it. 2-3 pair should be plenty for 2 weeks of travel. REI or try Sierra Trading Post for other clothing items.

The real secret to the quick-dry underwear is to WRING it out by hand and then roll it up in a towel squeezing as you go. When you hang it up it will make all the difference in the world in the drying time. TC

Ex-Officio underwear works well for me. Tilley clothing must be extra special given the extraordinary prices. Perhaps it takes far fewer Canadian dollars for our good neighbors to purchase such quality products.

Sorry if this is too much information - talking underwear can get into private things people don't want to hear about. I'm completely happy with my Boxerjocks by Underamour. They hand wash and line dry quickly, wear like steel (some of mine are more than seven years old, but I can't throw them away - they still look new), and have good support and fit. I bought them initially for travel but liked them so much I got rid of all my cotton boxer briefs. One thing I like about these that other similar briefs don't have is a fly. A bunch, including some by underarmour, have a pocket with no fly - I really prefer to be able to use a men's room without pulling down my pants and underwear. They come in three lenths. The shortest tend to ride up, so I wouldn't recommend them. Stick with the 6" or 9" inseam.

Nobody had addressed the obvious alternative: don't wear any.

Michael, Another vote for Ex Officio, which, here in Denver, is carried by Orvis too.
You can't wear these things out. I, like another poster, bought for travel, but now use for everyday. Nylon blends washes quick in the sink and will be dry in the morning. Cheers!

I was happy with body sensors (terramar is the mafr.) I found they dried faster than ex officio.

TRAVELSMITH frequently has Exficio on sale. They are also available at
ORVIS or in their catalog.

I just bring my oldest pairs, wear them for one day and leave them...

Leave them where? For someone else to throw away? Where is away?

Throw them away or recycle them, their choice. Boil them and make soup if they want.

"don't wear any" Monte, this isn't the spa thread!

I'm with Jay. My grandfather's old travel rule: Save up the old undies for the next big trip and discard along the way. By the end of the trip souvenirs are taking the place in my suitcase that socks, shorts, and tees had on the voyage over.

You don't really need official travel underwear that might cost an arm and a leg...regular old boxers from JCP, Target, Kohl's, or wherever are super lightweight and dry very quickly, even when there's a lot of humidity. The old white briefs are out, because they're too dang thick, restrictive, and take forever to dry. And as somebody else already said, there's always commando, which saves packing space (but might cause chafing...yikes...then you need to pack Gold Bond...too much to bring).
