For the more experienced European travelers. If one travels from Munich through CDG ending in North American, all on Air France without any checked bags, would it still be necessary to stand in CDG check-in lines? Or could we walk from the arrival gate straight to the departure gate? Thanks and please excuse our lack of European airport knowledge.
We usually fly Delta and Air France and transit through CDG terminals 2 E and F. They are across the street from each other and while some walking is required, easy to do. Check you flights to see exactly which terminals. You need about 2 hours to be safe.
All on one ticket no it is not necessary. You will go through passport control first in CDG before the boarding gate and get stamped showing the day you left the Schengen zone. Your boarding pass CDG to the North American port you are flying into is issued at check-in in Munich. Not unless things have changed (and someone else will chime in) during this time of COVID.
The answers above are correct.
But if I was traveling to the U.S. from Munich, I would be trying to travel back to the U.S. non-stop to make possible connections there. I avoid CDG after unpleasant prior connections, and I understand AMS may be having some issues right now.
Out of Munich, United flies to 6 cities, Delta flies to Detroit and Atlanta and Lufthansa flies to 6 U.S. cities.
