Purchasing tickets, if Eurail pass is refunded

I bought a Eurail pass, and have already purchased reservations for London to Paris, and for a couchette reservation from Amsterdam to Basel.

If I opt to refund the pass (mine is 100% refundable), is there another way to obtain just the tickets for the London to Paris, and the Amsterdam to Basel, since I have paid for the reservations part already?

I also paid for reservations for a part of the Glacier Express, but I assume I can still purchase the tickets only portion.

Thank you for your thoughts!

You would likely need to contact a customer service rep for each trainline (Eurostar for the London to Paris, Nightjet? for the other?)

The problem is, that reservation is tied to the pass, so no pass, no reservation. A rep may be able to link that reservation to a new ticket you purchase, plus apply any change fees if those apply.

If you went through a third party, then it likely gets more complicated.

the problem you have with the reservation fee on the Eurostar is that it isn't a true seat reservation. All tickets on there get a seat with no extra charge. It is a fee for using the Eurailpass. It would have no impact on buying a ticket on the train - do it directly, and as soon as you can - they rise in price sharply as the date approaches, and can fill.

You will have to see if your actual reservation on RhB Glacier Express is still valid, as well as the Amsterdam to Basel.

If the route of the Amsterdam to Basel is through Germany you won't need reservations. If it is through France you will,

Just noticing what Paul said. Yes, if your Amsterdam to Basel is on the Nightjet, then yes you will need a reservation.

Check with each train company before you cancel the railpass, to see what your financial implications are.

reading again - couchette - so yes you need to talk with Oebb or Nightjet about that couchette.

Thank you Paul and Nigel for your quick replies!

I did my Eurostar reservations thru travel.b-europe.com and obtained a cover pass.

Is my reservation tied to a specific Eurail pass, or is it Eurail as a discount, in general?

Is it still an option to refund my original Eurail pass, and change to a cheaper one with lesser number of days?

Unrelated question, if I have questions related to my itinerary - do I have to create a new topic?

Thank you again!

To avoid confusion, Nightjet is a brand used by ÖBB. So you need to speak with ÖBB.

On the Glacier Express you have a true reservation, that is independent of whatever ticket or pass you have. You can even do this reservation before you are in possession of a ticket or pass. So getting a ticket later is no issue.

The Eurostar is complicated. Eurostar does not have separate reservations. There all tickets come with a reservation. What you have is not a reservation but a discounted ticket, with a significant discount granted because you have an eurrail pass. Ask if you can have it refunded. Then do a normal booking.

For the NJ you should be able to combine the reservation with a normal price ticket. But for that contact the OBB.

Thank you Badger and WengenK for your replies! Looks like I may have to keep the pass, given all your inputs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
