Purchase phone in Berlin?

Does anyone happen to know of a place to purchase an unlocked phone/SIM card in Berlin in the Savignyplatz area - near Kanstrasse and Ku'Dam. We would like to get one as soon as we arrive at the hotel next week. Thanks so much.

You will find phone stores everywhere. Just look for signs saying "Handys", the German name for mobile phones.

Some of the best bargains are at Saturn, a large electronics chain. If you just want a phone for Germany, you can get one for about 9.99 €. If you want one that is unlocked so that you can buy SIM cards in other countries, the price starts around 29.99 €. The clerks can change the menu into English for you if you ask them. You can then buy cards to top up the minutes as needed.

I've only tried this on my phone but I'm pretty sure it works on a computer, too. Go to google maps. Select search. Type "saturn berlin germany." Google will show you the locations of all of the stores. You do not need to start on a map of Germany either.
