Prospects of Skiing in Europe ..

I would like to know more about skiing in Europe and how to go about it.

Pick a resort, book lodging, buy a plane ticket, pretty much same as you would for a North American Resort. I was just in Saas Fee and Zermatt. Its wonderful. February is floating school holidays throughout Europe, so late January and early March are the best times to go.

Are you wanting to ski now? Next winter?

You could use Google to find ski resorts in Europe and research. Or simply type in “ where to ski in Europe.”

Maybe some Forum posters who have skied in Europe will share intel.

I've been to Verbier, Wengen, Davos, Zermatt, Saas Fee in Switzerland.
Val d'Isere, Morzine, Meribel in France
Selva di Gardena, Canazei, Madonna di Campiglio in Italy
St Anton, Soelden, Ischgl, Kitzbuehel in Austria

Ask me anything.

A few years ago, when we were very much younger, we made our way over to St Johann in Tirol one hour from Salzburg. Had a car so getting from the ski resort was a piece of cake. Spent a week at the resort with some travel. There was a travel guide available for one day trips and believe it or not we journeyed to Venice. The guide driving a van with 8 people off to this wonderful city. I bet we didn't spend more than 4 or 5 hours but what a great visit.

You might consider Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany which is easily accessible by train from Munich. Good tourism infrastructure and loads of skiing opportunities.

Downhill, cross country or touring? What time of the year? What kind of place are you looking for?

I've skied a lot in Europe, never skied outside Europe in fact. A bunch of places in the Alps have been mentioned, but there are also several excellent places in the Scandinavian mountains. E.g. Sälen, Trysil, Idre, Åre, Vemdalen or Riksgränsen.

Been to Åre as well, but it is not a ski resort I would recommend to come to Europe to visit. Except for one large hill, the rest is more like skiing in smaller eastern USA resorts. I will say that you have not experienced Apres-Ski until you have experienced Apres-Ski in Austria.
