I would like to surprise my partner with a really good tour guide in Rome. Does anyone recommend a really good personal tour group/person for the Vatican or the city of Rome from experience? Mid range price hopefully. I heard that some groups will hook you up with art students. Thanks Warren

I would highly reccomend Roman Odyssey tours. They not only have tours of the Vatican, but also night-walking tours of the city. We stumbled across one of their tourguides, Jason Spiehler, in the Roman Forum. If my memory serves me correctly, he has a Master's degree from Yale in History of Art & Religion. He is originally from Louisianna. If you can choose, I would ask for him personally. He's awesome - totally knows his stuff and has a great personality. We found the prices to be practical and competitive with other groups.

And you might get more responses if you post this in the "To the Boot: Italy" section of the Traveler's Helpling, rather than General Europe.
