prague--will it be possible to buy books, magazines, etc. in english?

I am going to Prague in two weeks and am trying to pack as lightly as possible. Can anyone tell me whether once I arrive in Prague it will be possible to find books and magazines in English? I know there will be newspapers but I am worried about having a good novel to read in case I finish mine early on in the trip...

Finding English language papers and books can be a challenge. While we dont remember whether these were freely available in Prague, the likelihood of there being English bookstores is high. Newsstands usually carry International Herald Tribune and the Financial Times. A good choice is National Geos as , even when they are in another language (say, French), it is easy to follow the stories bcuz they are done according to a formula. This means that if you are familiar with the English version, the stories are almost transparent

yes, but they will be VERY limited and VERY expensive...

my mom and I were in Europe for 45 days a couple of years ago(before I got married) and at about day 30 she was craving to read an english magazine...she found a Good Housekeeping on Las Ramblas in Barcelona for 10 euros normally under 3.00 USD here!

if you go outside of Prague, say to Cesky Krumlov or Olomouc I saw nothing in magazines or books in English.

Hi, I live in Prague and I can tell you that it is very easy to find English language books here. There is a bookstore in the Palladium shopping center that has a good selection of books in English. It is located at the Namesti republiky tram stop, very close to Old Town Square.

You will find english magazines at Tesco (Narodni 26, Prague 1) and a few at Globe Bookstore and Cafe (Pstrossova 6, Prague 1).

Other English bookstores:
Anagram Bookshop - Tyn 4, Prague 1
Big Ben Bookshop - Mala Stupartska 5, Prague 1
Shakespeare and Sons - Krymska 12, Prague 10

Thank you for the reply...

it's always great when we have a source right in the city, who can let others know, what they remember might not be the case currently!

I love Prague and have fondest memories of our time there!

There's also big book store on Wenceslas Square that has a good selection of books in english. It's on the right side as you walk toward the museum and statue. Don't recall whether they carry newspapers or magazines in english.
