Prague or Paris in Dec

We have an extra 4 days before a Christmas Cruise in early Dec should we add these extra days in Prague or Paris?

From what I've read, the Xmas markets in Prague are great. We were in the city and were surprised to find Easter markets, which were so much fun! I had never before heard of Easter markets. So if Prague had wonderful Easter markets, I'm assuming the Xmas markets are even better. Safe travels!

What river is your cruise on? I'd look at distance. We go over every other Dec for a Xmas Market Cruise. I'd say Prague over Paris - it is stunningly decorated - with good Xmas Markets - not as good as the German Xmas Markets where they originated, but it'll be a great start to your trip.

Another vote for Prague. I love Paris but we were there last December and the Christmas markets were disappointing. If you are not interested in the markets, then it’s really a toss up. Lots to do in either city.

Thank you for all responses, helpful info.
To Chinalake we are doing a Viking Christmas Cruise on the Main and Moselle. Going to French, German, Austrian and Czech Christmas Markets. So looking forward to this! Lucky you going every other year, fun, fun, fun!
We are not doing Vikings extensions, we will be doing extensions on our own. We are doing a Thailand tour before the cruise and there is an open week between the end of the Thailand Tour and the start of the Christmas Cruise that is why we were looking for feedback on best place to spend those extra days. So appreciate hearing from other enthusiastic travelers.

Paris. I've been to Paris before Christmas several times (job) and it was so pretty.

Do you like Christmas markets? If yes, you can look for other places as Cluj-Napoka (Romania), Erfurt (Germany) or Kraków (Poland). The first one (in Cluj-Napoka) is decorated in very nice way, with lights making ceiling over the square in the center of the old town (with St Mickael church). You can reach one of such cities during your travel to Paris or Prague.

Paris. Much more special than Prague. Paris will be amazing in December.

The answer is always Paris. In 2021 we had a Strasbourg-Paris trip planned for Christmas. we landed in London for a few days...and then France shut the border to the English. We got caught in that mess & refigured our trip to stay in England-Scotland. I said at the time I wanted to see the City of Light with all the lights on

There’s no wrong answer to this question but having done both, I would choose Prague. They are both so fun (and beautiful) at Christmas.

Thank You fellow travelers for your terrific/helpful suggestions. You all have convinced us so we will spend the extra days before the cruise in Paris and
do a Prague extension at the end on our own using Rick Steves book and your suggestions.
Thanks for all the feedback!!! So excited to go!
