Prague cost per day

How much should I budget for lunch and dinner and inner city transportation? I can walk to some places, but might need train, bus or cab for others. I am trying to budget.

For food, estimate about the same as you would at home. Prague offers a wide variety of options from very reasonable, serve yourself places, to fine dining so you can pick. Public transport is quite reasonable and reaches most anyplace that you would require. We rode the tram which was easy. Accommodation will be your largest expense. Try for the historic center but don't pay for what you won't use, e.g. sauna, conference center, bar, etc. You can get lunch in a cheap pub or even a fairly nice restaurant just outside the historic center for 79 to 110 crowns (at 18 or 19 to the dollar). Lunchtime is the best time to eat well cheaply, with all the workers and office employees. At dinner eat lightly with a soup and a beer. You can get by extremely cheaply this way. Some ethnic restaurants are also good value. Once you are in the center you won't need transportation if you like to walk. You can walk across the entire historic center in one hour, west to east, if you don't look at anything. It's small. Saunter, stop for a coffee or some wine, browse, look at the views, listen to the jazz band on the Charles Bridge, and you can spend a pleasant day this way. If you need a lift to ease your feet, take a tram or the Metro. Info here: www.hedgie.eu/pages/travel/#transport
