Prague Budapest Český Krumlov itinerary - 7 to 8 days

Halo,
We are planning a trip to Eastern Europe with our daughter (adult), mid august for about 7-8 days.

Need your help in deciding which cities to go to and which city to start from.

After rwading up travel blogs we were thinking Prague Budapest and Cesky Krumlov. Lot of people suggested Vienna too but we have been to Vienna and Salburg befoe though we have not been to Innsbruck.

We ont mind swiss cities but I guess that is far.

Waiting for suggestions for deciding which cities to go to, what to see and in which order should we visit these cities.

Thanks in advance

Day 8 Budapest to Dubai on Emirates

Thanks James.

So you think Prague along with the other two cities are good or we should including something else?

Another option available is for you to take the shuttle from CK to Vienna (3.5-4 hours) and there you can take the train to Budapest. You probably will be travelling most of the day.

The Cesky K trip is really what eats so much of your time since you aren't spending time in Vienna. I think the 3 cities is all you have time to do justice to. With 8 days I would just do Prague and Budapest. You won't get bored. 40% of the time in Prague and 60% in Budapest. Happy Trails...

Thanks again James.

We are not much of history people, we are more of country side, beautiful sites and nature people. We usually go for main sites.

Would appreciate if you can guide us with what to do with out time in there, as in what all to see and what cafes, restaurants and clubs to hit during our time there.

To rent a car or use public transportation? Which area to stay in and is air bmb netter option than a hotel?

Apologies, too many questions 😊. Thanks in advance.

Since you mention nature, the Czech Republic is beautiful, but you have so little time to get out into the culture. You just have so little time. I'm not familiar enough with the Czech Republic to be much help, I'm sure someone else can assist you.

In Budapest I can help a bit more. Plenty of good food. Actually I have never been anyplace that had so much good food at such good places. For night life, you can go fancy at the theaters or you hit the Ruin Pubs (unique to Budapest - Google for more). For the small town visit, like you might have been trying to achieve with Cesky Krumlov a day trip to Szentendre will get you out of town and is worth the time and the wonderful boat trip back into town.

If you had more time I would suggest a trip to Kempinski in Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia and a few days in the country visiting castles and nature. Beautiful country. Actually, Budapest and Slovakia pair well together if you skip Prague. So it would be something like

Day one to Budapest non stop (two carriers do the trip)
Day two in Budapest
Day three in Budapest
Day four Budapest to Kosice, Slovakia on the train (3 hours more or less)
Day five Kosice to Štrbské Pleso (Poprad Station) (1.5 hours more or less)
Day six Štrbské Pleso (Poprad train station) to Budapest (4.5 hours more or less)
Day seven Budapest
Day eight head home

And you can do that on a Round Trip ticket non-stop from Dubai.

Seems,
About going to Innsbruck: IMHO that seems like out of the way. Prague, CK and Budapest are more of a relatively strait line. I am assuming that you do want to visit those 3 cities. I've been to all 3 and they are great. I suggested going to Vienna just to catch the train to Budapest. Enjoy.

We are planning to stay in Prague for 3-4 nights. As suggested, will fly in to Prague and fly out from Budapest.

It is our first time to both these places, suggestions for accomodation included breakfast would be good.

we would prefer to be in the city, close to the attractions and shopping ( had a leg surgery recently hence, can’t walk much).

Also, would appreciate any suugestions for day trips in and around Prague and Budapest.

Thanks

For a 7 to 8 day trip you are probably wise to just do Prague and Budapest and split the time between the two. In that case, fly from Prague to Budapest.

What quality hotel are you looking for?

One of my favorite hotels is in Prague: The Ventana https://www.ventana-hotel.net/ Its about 150m from Old Town, but buffered just enough to be a little quieter.

For Budapest

I think the best general all around hotel is the 4star: K&K Opera https://www.kkhotels.com/en/budapest/hotel-opera Its also very convenient as the M1 Metro line is about 150 feet from the front door. The M1 also known as the Millenium Line is the oldest underground on the continent of Europe and because of its size is more like an amusement park ride than a big city subway. It connects the river to the city park and there are Top Ten sights between the two extremes, so very convenient. It also crosses two Tram Lines which will get you to what the M1 cant.

If you want to go upscale there are a number of good 5star hotels in Budapest.

Four Seasons https://www.fourseasons.com/budapest/ always rated as one of the top 2 or 3 hotels in Europe. But not well connected and will require a bit more walking.

Or the Ritz Carlton http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/europe/budapest
Or the Kempinski https://www.kempinski.com/en/budapest/hotel-corvinus/

Both are both fairly well located for getting around. But not as good as the K&K. Of the two the Ritz is nicer.

For astonishing history, and opulence that's hard to beat anywhere in Europe, there is the Boscolo NY Palace, its a bit far from things, but there is a tram out front that will take you to the M1 Metro line or Buda: https://www.dahotels.com/new-york-palace-budapest/

Then there is the often overlooked Corinthia. One of my favorites. A bit removed, but serviced by a tram line to the M1: https://www.corinthia.com/en/hotels/budapest

Thanks James. Would also love to have your feedback on food where and what to eat. We are foodies and always in search for good food :) and if it is healthy then mothing beats it.

Food restrictions- we don’t eat beef.

Good shopping areas/malls/outlets/stores/places?

Anything else, you think we should do?

Hope you eat pork!? Or at least duck and goose or you are going to be a bit hungry in Hungary.

The best i know of are located on Interstate 35 north of San Antonio, Texas. I guess the next best thing is Vaci utca which would be very close to the Ritz or the Kempinski hotels.
