Prague, Berlin, Rome or Edinburgh

Hi all! I’m going to spend 2-3 days in one of these cities in the summer (traveling by plane from London). I know it sounds like a short time but it’s what I prefer and I’ve done similar trips from London to Amsterdam and London to Barcelona. :)

These are my choices: Prague, Berlin, Rome and Edinburgh

I like busy, energetic, bustling walking-friendly cities with lots of tourists, activities, on street entertainment, shopping, food/cafes, outdoor cafes , “people watching”, etc. I also love busy cobblestone streets with tons of shops!

I’m in my late 20s but I do not care for alcohol/beer or partying.

I wouldn’t spend more than 30% of my time in museums and I don’t care for art. I do like history.

I’m also a foodie and cities I enjoy include London, Barcelona, New York and Boston.

Cities I do not enjoy because I felt bored there include DC, Toronto and Charleston + I got tired of Amsterdam after 1 day.

Lastly, I’m happy with hot temperatures and I enjoyed other large cities in similar short time periods (ie Barcelona and London) - as mentioned, I thought more than 1 day in Amsterdam to be really boring.

Any pros/cons recommendations between Prague, Berlin, Rome and Edinburgh based on my interest profile? :)

Thank you so much!

Rome would be good but not in summer. Oppressively hot. Berlin is too big for 2 to 3 days. Prague is an eye candy, really created for walking, certainly a lot of tourists and all the other things you are asking for. Now with global warming if you are not lucky it could be also hot in summer. If you absolutely want to avoid heat then Edinburgh. And it's also smaller and less busy than your other choices.

It will be hot in Rome, but that's the only downside I see. Prague would be good also, but not so much of a food destination. Edinburgh not especially famous for food, is it? (But if you go there, the train might be easier than flying.) Berlin might be the best overall choice based on your interests.

Not much help, am I? It's a good problem to have. Pick one at random and take the others when you can!

Thank you all! As I’m comfortable with the hot weather and size-wise London/Barcelona are both quite large but I still enjoyed similar length trips there - it seems Rome may be the best choice. Otherwise, it seems Prague is also a good choice. Will probably move forward with one of the two.

Your feedback is helping me hone in on one choice! Thanks!

True, Prague is not known as food destination but as a beer destination does not have a competitor in quality and price. I would say Munich can compete in quality but certainly not in price. About food destination - cities of Prague size even smaller have amazing selections of food all over the world - ethnic restaurants. So if you don't like Czech cuisine (I don't think it's bad) you can choose whichever you like. I think the greatest expert on Czech beer and cuisine on this forum is Unclegus. Ask him.
