Portable travel fans suggestions?

Hello,

I was wondering about handwashing my clothes when I go on my trip and taking a travel fan with me to help the clothes dry. Are there suggestions on lightweight/small travel fans that might work?

Thanks,
Jamie

Since I travel in summer I have never worried about needing a fan to dry my clothes . I only wash lightweigh items,, blouses, undies etc.. and they usually dry in a day on their own.. IF you are only staying one night in a hotel don't wash there,, if stuff is not dry in am you would have to pack it damp,, but if staying at least two nights its not a problem letting things airdry.

I would not bring a fan to dry clothes. I would however bring a line and some clips.

I did bring a small portable hand held fan for Rome last year,, and I LOVED it. It was battery operated, abnd I brought extra batteries. It was priceless watching other sweat while I held my wonderful little fan up to my face. I loved it so much I have built a shrine to it.. ok, just getting carried away again. LOL

I would handwash items my first night at a new location. That way I would have clean clothes when it was time to leave to my next stop. My shortest stay was four nights. Use a towel or squeegy (sp) to wring out excess water. They would be dry by next morning. Socks for some reason took a couple of days to dry. I would use a small bottle of Downey wrinkle reducer to smooth out the the laundry and help them give a fresh smell. I wouldn't bother carrying a fan, I used the hair dryer once to help get them drier faster. Maybe I am thinking of a different type of fan, but wouldn't be bulky carrying it around. I think if it was too small, it would'nt give enough air to really help much. I guess I am confused.

Some bathrooms will have towel warmers that will dry your clothes quickly.

I was actually looking for one too but for a totally different reason. I can't sleep without the noise. I actually found a really small one at target for $7.00. Really small and compact, should work great on our trip to Switzerland in Sept.

If you're bringing along a laptop/netbook, you can can also use these as sound machines. There are white noise sound files you can download and play while you sleep.

Hi Jamie - Another thing that can help dry your tops are inflatable hangers. Just blow them up when you arrive at your destination and let the air out when you leave. Repeat at the next stop...and so on... I also brought a couple of hangers with clips (like they have pants at the store hanging on) that helped with pants or skirts. They don't weigh anything, took up no space, and I left them behind at our final destination.

Dear Jamie:

I never used a fan to dry my clothes, but I did use a travel hairdryer which you can find in any travel supply store. It worked, but it took a long time.

I did find that clothing made of Cool-Max and such dried faster, especially if I stomped a dry towel on them first to blot excess water.

Good luck!

Inflatable hangers work well to dry shirts faster, and for pants I have used balloons. Easy to pack, easy to leave behind... I just blow up a couple and tuck them in the legs of the damp pants, sometimes in the sleeves of a shirt. And a travel hairdryer is great for socks; don't try to dry all the way but give them a minute or so on warm and it really speeds the drying process.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I think the combination of a dry towel and inflatable hangers might work the best for me.

Maybe the balloons, too, but I'll have to practice that first. :) I haven't heard of that technique before.

Thanks again!
