portable seating resommendations

Hi there -
We are traveling about France for several weeks and, while, quite mobile, I do often look for a chair to rest my legs and back. Any recommendations for a collapsible, small, light chair to take with? I have seen tripod chairs and that may work well, but wanted something VERY light, with a back.

Hi, have you thought of a cane seat. This way you have support on stairs and hills and can seat if and when you desire. Just a thought as many places like monuments will fine you for seating.

The Wirecutter has a review of camping chairs.

The Helinox Chair One is the best chair for anyone who needs a lightweight, portable chair.
It’s the lightest, most portable chair that is still comfortable. The Helinox Chair One weighs about 2 pounds, compresses smaller than a 2-liter bottle of soda, and is our most lightweight pick.
It's not the lightest chair we tested, but it is the one that struck the best balance between a low weight and comfort, with a roomier seat than the competition (except for the Moon Lence) and a strong and supportive frame.

also reviewed, Moon Lence chair ($110 vs $39):

If you’re looking for a budget lightweight chair: Consider the Moon Lence Portable Camping Chair. It’s the comfiest lightweight chair we tested, with a seat that’s just as roomy as that of our lightweight pick. Many testers appreciated the arrows printed on the Moon Lence chair’s legs (the arrows made this chair one of the easiest ones to assemble).

marybeth,

I bought a portable walk stool similar to this so use on travels, as my back also gets sore if standing for extended periods of time - https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/garden/garden-care/weeding/stools/65663-walkstool-comfort?srsltid=AfmBOorzEdwGygbBK4wF7Ab_yLve9XlJdmOl7jmr82L6_cCmwliJsUB6 . I haven't had an opportunity to try it on a trip yet, but it doesn't weigh much or take up much room so it should work well.

Models with a back are likely going to be larger and heavier, and more cumbersome to pack around during touring.
