Anyone have any experience with Polish Airlines? Good/bad?
I took a flight on LOT Polish Airlines from Krakow to Frankfurt. Modern aircraft, on time, very good service. No problems at all.
Flown them several times with no problems, last in May of 2010. LOT is owned by Lufthansa.
Just flew Lot Polish air in July 2011 and it was fine. Flights on time but no personal entertainment systems on either flight. Flew in and out of Warsaw.
John, thank you for asking this question. I have to fly from Budapest to Amsterdam next June and was wondering the same thing. If you take a flight with them before then, please let us know your experience. I am also considering WizzAir.
Visibility is not good as you will almost certainty be sitting behind a Pole :-) (yeah, it is a bad pun)
Well I heard a Cessna 6 seat plane crashed in a Polish cemetery. At last count rescue workers had recovered over 200 bodies.
I agree with the others about LOT. @Laurie Wizzair is a safe, efficient, but no-frills airline. They often use smaller out of the way airports, but it's well worth the extra hassle for ground transport if you travel when they are offering low rates. I traveled round trip from Krakow to Rome in the low season for a total of about $130, $30 of which was for the van trip from/to Krakow to/from Katowice, about an hour west of Krakow, where the Wizzair flight originated. It looks like a similar situation with Wizzair using Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Budapest (along with Warsaw) is the main hub for Wizzair, so probably not a problem on that end.
My friend who's been to Frankfurt, Germany said that it was such a posh experience to have landed there flying with Polish Airlines. :) I thought, ah, cool! :D
