Looking for suggestions for places to stay in Istanbul. What are your favorites?
I'm willing to spend up to 100 € a night for the first few nights and then go budget (below 50€) after I get my grounding. It's my first time abroad.
Thanks!

The Empress Zoe in Sultanhamnet
Hotel Sultan Hill
The Hotel Dersaadet is worth a look too. We've stayed there and we liked it.
The Empress Zoe was my first choice but no availability for my arrival dates.
This place came highly recommended, but only has a room for my arrival date (which I'll probably book). And then stay elsewhere. http://kybelehotel.com/
It's proving more difficult to book late Sept., but it's fun looking.
I'll look at your suggestions.
Cheers!
We stayed at the Celal Sultan last March and we're very happy. They're 5 minutes (or less) from Hagia Sophia. (We actually had a view from our room -- see here if you're interested.) The staff was friendly and the breakfast excellent and ample. Prices for late Sept are EUR 109 for a single.
I stayed at the Hanedan Hotel in Sultanachmet in 2007 (I was there on a solo trip), and thought it was a great place to stay and for an excellent price. The staff was friendly, the room was clean (and it was one of the largest single rooms I've had), the location was very convenient but also on a quiet street, and breakfast was on a roof terrace overlooking the sea. You get a discount if you pay in cash, and they will also pick you up at the airport for a small fee.
I wrote a review of the hotel at Trip Advisor in 2007, which you can find at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293974-d310380-Reviews-Hanedan-Istanbul.html and overall, the reviews have been good.
