Pise Leaning Tower tour

I plan to visit the Leaning Tower in Pise. As per the Opera Primaziale Web site, the visit lasts about 30 minutes and no extension is allowed. Does it allows sufficent at top to admire the view and city, considering up and down 300 steps? 30mn seems to be tight? Does it worth? Does anyone can comment? Many Thanks!! Andre

Andre - The basic question is - Why do you need a tour? It's a wide open area - lots of vendors, merchants, restaurants, and, of course, the Leaning Tower. You don't need a tour guide for any of it - save your money and enjoy it!!

When you buy a ticket for the tower you get 30 minutes to go up, admire the views and come down. I found that was plenty of time. The stair case is quite comfortable to walk up/down and with under 300 steps it won't take that long.

I'm not aware of any "tour" with that. It's self-guided.

Thanks for the information. On the WEB site, it said 'Visits to the Tower organized for groups with a guide who will provide visitors information...'. So it is really a visit without a guide!!

Thanks all for clarification!! I can not wait!! Andre

Andre--we have climbed the tower 2x now most recently this past July. The climb is not bad and time at the top is fine. Be sure to go all the way to the top--up further than where the bells are. Views are great!

Andre, that part on the website might be geared towards tour groups that arrive in Pisa rather than individual travellers.. There are tons of groups arriving on cruise ships. They do need a way to pre-book a tour of the tower without extra wait times. Expect about a 2 hour wait after to get your ticket for the tower! I'd suggest you buy that first thing when you arrive at the Field of Miracles and than use that "wait" time to see all the other sites. Time flies fast that way ;-)

Thanks for the tips. In the French version of the web site, it is mentionned that individuals or group can reserved on Line 'at least 45 to 15 days ahead of time'. I did not yet reserve sinci my trip is schedule in May but I tried the On Line reservation tool without confirming and it looks that we can reserve at a specific date and time. The Pro is you can reserve at a specific time but you need to be there at the exact time.

Does someone already reserved tickets On Line and wait?
