Pictures, downloading and captions

Does anyone have a good photo program you download ALL your vacation pictures and are able to "easily" put a caption either on your picture or under it.
I know the iphoto for the Mac's are simple and easy but I have not found one for our Dell desktop and laptop. We've tried several but nothing seems to work very well. Thanks.

I downloaded the Nero Photo Show Deluxe on my Dell laptop, which has all the bells and whistles, including music (I also got music from a free download off EMusic, which I then applied to the photoshow.) I can't remember the exact cost of the Nero download..maybe around $69, and worth every penny. It was so much fun putting the photo show together to present my trip pictures to family. I connected my laptop to my husbands HDTV, and the pictures were awesome...just like being there. It was very easy to use, but the music is a little time consuming if you're like me, and want the perfect melody to match the scene. I became obsessed with that part...but the family was sooo impressed :-)
Go online and check it out.

I use SNAPFISH, and HP owned company. I enjoy making a photo book after I return from my trips to Europe. I have gone to this, rather than printing a boat load of 4x6 prints. There are a number of companies that have a similar software. I like the book because I can select my very best pictures, put captions on them, and even have pages that are all text if I want, to give more detail to a particular day or site. It is VERY user friendly. You just upload the pictures to their site, where you can also label them. These labels you assign in your online photo album don't have to be the same captions you would have in your book. Another sidelight, an external drive (less than $100) is a safe option for storing photos, if you take a lot like I do. Thanks Gina for the suggestion for Nero Photo Show Deluxe, I will give that a look, perhaps you will be doing a Rick Steve's type travel show!

I used to manage my photos on my company Toshiba Tablet. I decided that I need separation of church and state and go my own computer. I chose a MacBookPro and one of the main reasons is iPhoto. Unbelievably better. I hope that you find something that helps you. I have to say though, that if you find that you're into photography, you should think about a Mac for your next computer. I still use the Toshiba for work. I try to think of myself as bilingual rather than schizophrenic. LOL.

Thank you for all the suggestions. We will be on our two Dell computers this afternoon trying some of the suggestions out.
Yes, I agree that iphoto is great on the Mac. We've seen it used. So easy but I'm not ready to fork out the money for a new computer YET!! I'll let you know how we do.
Thanks again. Enjoy your day.

If you have a Costco card, Costco has a wonderful service and program. I do everything from home and pick up photos, cds, etc at the store. Snapfish is another one. You can also store your photos on Costco's server and share them via email. Costco's photo service is well worth the Costco membership fee. Have fun!

Picasa mentioned previously offers a free site and is easy to use to do simple post processing of your photos. It will load your photos to your computer and the ones of those you want to upload to the picasa web site for friends to view is also free up to a point. I have uploaded close to 700 photos to the website in the large size and still no charge. You can put captions with the photos if you want.

A sample here. If you do view the photos you can click on slide show for best viewing.
