Photo Printing

We are going to Europe for 3 months. I need to be able to occasionally print a few pictures. In the US, I just send them to Walgreens or Costco and then go pick them up. Is there something similar in Europe?

Unfortunately i can only talk about Germany. Here you can go to DM a Drugstore chain wich you will find almost everywhere. You can either go there with your memory card or your phone and print your pictures yourself or with help from the personal there or go online to www.dm.de and upload them. Hopefully you know at last a bit of german no english option on the website.

I am sure in other countries you will find similar but better ask in the country specific sub forum.

That's very helpful. I figure I can use Google Lens to walk me through the prompts if need be. I'll post in other subs, just didn't want to overdo it, but it's a good point that it's likely country specific. :)

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to print pictures while traveling? Thanks.

If a DM in Germany has photo printing then their outlets in other countries might too. I know there are DM stores in Croatia.

There are Costco’s in parts of Europe. Maybe there will be one near you. I’ve haven’t had photos printed in Europe in decades. Knowing where you’ll be would help get better responses.

It is probably best to Google the actual city you are in for a name of a photo store. Also, ask your hotel.

CocoPolka,

yesterday I was in the E.Leclerc shopping center in St. Jean du Luz and they had a do it yourself machine.

By the bathrooms and the food court, where the key maker and the cobbler are located I saw a machine with a bunch of cables coming out of it. When I approached I saw that they were different usb type cables for phones, cameras, and tablets. Right next to it was a copier/scanner.

It took cash, cards and has the contactless reader.

Usually there is at least one photo store in every mall. And dozens in the city centers.
You're going to have no problem at all at finding one to print some photos.

There are two Costcos in the Paris region, but I wouldn’t have any idea how to get to either of them, nor would I recommend a visitor search one of them out to get some photos printed.

We have a couple of dozen Costcos in the UK, but do we count as Europe?

I hope that CocoPolka has Schengen restrictions down.

It sounds like it should be relatively easy to find something, thank you to everyone who helped me figure out what to search for and what to be looking for.

Nigel, can you clarify what about Schengen restrictions I need to be concerned about? Is it something to do with working on my business while traveling that's a concern? Or is it not going over the 90 day limit in the Schengen area?

yes, you say 3 months but the Schengen limit is 90 days (often a bit less than exactly 3 months) in any 180. Sounds like you've got it under control...

Note that all of the Costco stores in the South East USA (At least the 5-6 I have been into) have all removed their instore photo centers.

Personally I would not do 90 days so that you have a few extra days of if you need them. The last time we were in France, on exiting, they were extremely picky about our entry and exit dates.

I very much appreciate all of the advice both about pictures and about the time limits! I just said 3 months to show why we might want to print pictures while there rather than waiting until we are home. We planned 84 days to allow for a buffer, and not all of the countries are in the Schengen area.
