I have NEVER successfully made a phone call in any European country. But, I continue to try. Problem: Our Paris landlord is leaving us a phone on which we are to call him as soon as we arrive. His instructions are: just dial the number. Okay, but I've failed this test in at least 4 countries. Help. Specific help?
Here's quote from an article by Rick Steves in the "Travel Tips" section of this site:
"To make calls within a country that uses a direct-dial system (like France), dial the same number whether you're calling across the country or across the street."
Thanks for the specific advice which you both gave without making me feel mega stupid.
