We will be traveling to Switzerland and Germany and are thinking about buying the Rail Europe Phone Card to make calls back to USA. We like it because of the message service, but the rates seem pretty high. Any ideas?

I am not familiar with the RE Phone card so I am not addressing that question directly. As for calling back, local phone are very cheap. Also with internet you have skype for pennies and the internet. My experience is that anything associated with RE tends to be more expensive. Have you reviewed the postings under, Phoning Back to the US.
