Has anyone been to the Perugia chocolate festival in Italy in October? If so, any recommendations where to stay? Hotel recommendations? Planning to be there this year on October 27 and 28. Thanks!

We attended in 2008. Perugia was incredibly crowded! We just attended for the day, taking a 20 min. train from Assisi in the morning and returning in the evening. We were very glad to return to a quieter place at the end of the day. Getting in and out of Perugia by public transportation was actually very efficient. If they still have availability, there is a chocolate hotel in Perugia itself, if I remember correctly...

We liked our stay at the Hotel Sant'Ercolano a couple of years ago. Relatively inexpensive. Small, modest, clean. Friendly staff . Nice little breakfast. Very convenient to sights and the Pincetto stop on the mini metro. Our room had a small balcony looking over rooftops and laundry lines toward Assisi in the distance.
