Permission for talking minor child

My husband and I are taking our 11 year old grandson to Germany and Switzerland in early June. He has his passport but I understand we need a letter/form from his parents with permission to take him out of the country. Does anyone know where to get the technicalities for this letter?

Thanks.

Hello,

As a divorced mom, I have to have this paperwork when I take the girls out of the country. Though not once have I been asked for any paperwork at any airport or in any country. You need to have a notarized letter saying that both parents give you permission to take your grandson out of the country with the travel dates.

Thanks, Jeff. I knew it was out there somewhere, but had lost my link. I will forward it to his parents.

I travel alone with my kids sometimes and I am not divorced,, but I still bring a letter. Now that my sons are 15 and 17 I don't bother if I am just with one of them as only insane person could suspect me of kidnapping my 6'1" 170 pound sons, LOL , but this summer I am taking my 12 yr daughter. I have my hubby write a letter and he takes it to a notary to have it notarized, cost 50-75 dollars I think.

Pat-that can't really cost $50??!! Here in the states it may cost you a few bucks, but usually at your local bank there is a teller or 2, and they just notarize it as a customer service, no charge. Are you sure your hubby isn't just telling you that and then stopping off for a beer? Glad to see that some things are better in the States than in the idealized Canada in my mind!
