Is everything closed on Pentecost Sunday-Monday in southern Germany? I can choose to be in many places for these two days (May, 25 & 26, 2010). Rothenburg, Munich, Salzburg, Swiss Alps, Vienna, even Venice. There is a medieval historic re-enactment festival in Rothenburg that weekend. Is this a good way to experience Rothenburg? Any opinions?
Holidays in Germany, mean that shopping and banks close. It does not mean that museums, restaurants or other tourist attractions close. This is a poplar weekend break for many Germans, but I doubt if they will be going to Rothenburg.
That holiday does not pose a concern, as the poster above noted.
If you like medieval historic re-enactments is could be a good way to see Rothenburg. I do like those re-enactments, and went to a great one at Rheinfels castle (St. Goar). That said, it would not be my preference to experience Rothenburg that way (I like Rothenburg when it is quiet -- early morning and late evening.)
