Pensions in Munich

Can anyone recommend a good clean quite pension in Munich with WC and shower in room.
Rick Steves recommendation Lindner Pension would not answer my questions about when they would clean room, clean linen and towels for a 15 day stay and told me I should probable go to a hotel??? This tells me I would be there for 15 days with the same in the room as when I arrived?

The Linder Pension is really nice with great rooms, great breakfasts, hostess, and location. I'm surprised the woman would tell you to go somewhere else. My wife and I stayed there for a few days and absolutely loved it. True, we shared a bathroom, which wasn't a big deal for us, but I know they have rooms with private bathrooms. I'm not really helping you and I'm sorry, this is the only place I've stayed in Munich. Honestly, if I were in your position but with my knowledge, I would press the owner a bit further to get the answers I require, it's worth at least that. Also, totally unrelated note, two words: Augustiner Keller. If you like beer you won't regret it. Have fun!!

If you're doing 15 days in one place, an apartment is a great idea. In my experience, all German pensions share a very high standard for cleanliness (but not necessarily for ensuite baths).

Try the Laimer Hof near the Nymphenberg Palace. It's a great quiet neighborhood, but with easy public transport access. The place is spotless and the staff amazing. I think all rooms have private baths.
Good luck.

It is quite common in German hotels and pensions to NOT change sheets and towels on a daily basis. This is a huge waste of water and energy to do this every day. Most places will have a notice about this in your room. Towels get changed when you leave them on the floor, sheets probably every 3-4 days.

What is a pension anyway? How different is it from a regular hostel? Kindly forgive my ignorance......in India, we do not have this concept of Pensions.

A pensiion can be different in each location basically it is what we in the USA call a bed and breakfast. they can be in a home or in almost any building, they may or maynot have bathroom in room, the personal service is mostly more genuine but the room service is less. it usually is about the same or less than a 2 star hotel. we have stayed in beautiful places and some not so good. Take your chances, look at them on trip advisor. Good Luck Richard

If I were to stay for 15 days in the same place, I'd go preferably for an apartment in a well established chain hotel that offers apartments that are more like flats, with a bit more space and a small kitchen - just to have some space to cook alone. Pensions, hostals (not hostels), guest houses are always a tricky thing. You might score a good value-for-money option, or a bad place. I don't like the forced intimacy of small hotels/B&Bs etc. for long stays. I don't like being recognized by all staff and called by first name, so I'd rather stay at a larger place for longer periods.

We stay at the Pension Lindner for 3 days during the Oktoberfest great location clean room nice bathroom with shower, great breakfast, Marion was great. The room was straighten up each day, as we do not spend anytime except to sleep in our rooms this was perfect for us, I would stay there again.
Although 15 days sounds like an apartment would work best.

I have some places listed on my webpage. I have never stayed at any of them, but they come recommended by posters on this website. But I agree with some other posters that for the time span you seem to want, an apartment, ( Ferienwohnung in German), is probably what you want.
