It appears from other posts, and my brothers recent experience, that the passport renewal process is not taking nearly as long as one would expect. He renewed online on Sunday the 9th and received the new passport on Saturday the 15th. And that was with standard delivery. Much faster than our renewals which took two weeks for self and three weeks for spouse. Of course, your mileage may vary, so plan accordingly, which means still apply early and hope to be surprised.
Does processing timer depend on whether one gets a normal Passport, or a “Patriot Passport,” I wonder?
Sounds like the U.S. Postal Service is doing its job to help make the process quick.
Cyn,
It is my understanding that one must make an appointment and apply in person at designated passport offices if one wants that particular document.
TC, all the more reason to get a normal Passport. Hope yours get you to fabulous places, and thanks for your post.
