Passport Not Stamped at Munich Airport

Hi All

I travelled from Mumbai (India) to Stockholm via Munich. I had a connecting flight from Munich.
However, my passport was not stamped at Munich. The officer looked at the work permit card of Sweden and my passport
and he let me go.

At the Stockholm airport, no immigration was done for me. I am confused why my passport was not stamped even when I am entering from Non European country

Most of Europe, including Germany and Sweden, are in the Schengen zone, in which there is free travel without (usually) passport checks. When you entered the Schengen zone in Munich your passport was checked and should have been stamped. However, when you arrived in Stockholm from Munich, since it was an intra-Schengen flight, the officer probably assumed it had been checked in Munich.

Does your passport have a chip in it? When you passport chip or the bar code is scanned, I believe the information automatically goes into a database. The Swedish officer might have been able to see that.

If you have a concern, you should probably contact Swedish Immigration and determine if there is any action on your part needed. Most of us, being US citizens and travelling on a tourist visa allowance are unlikely able to give definitive advice.

There are lots of "maybe" scenarios; maybe the officer assumed that since you had a work permit you were a permanent resident, maybe he did scan the passport, maybe the officer messed up.

I know several times I was processed with no stamp, or the stamp was all but nonexistent. It would certainly be wise to retain proof of your flight, but as I said, probably something to work out with Swedish Immigration.

Thanks for the information.

My passport is not chip enabled but my sweden work permit card has the biometric information embedded in it.
But for the resolution of my query , I will check with the sweden immigration department.

Hi All

Just for the information for everyone.

I called up Sweden Migration Department and it is told to me as long as the work permit card is valid.
There is nothing to worry about.

I have mailed them also, I hope to get the reply which will give me a written proof from Migration Department of Sweden.

Our passports weren't stamped upon arrival in Rome from the U.S. a couple of years ago but ours are biometric so I figured that was why.
