Passes or point to point out of Munich?

Hi all
Our family of five, two adults three kids, 12, 10 and 6, will be flying into Munich on standby so we do not / cannot buy passes or train tickets ahead of time in case we never get there. (I'm an airline employee but do not get offline travel privileges on other carriers otherwise this all be a moot point lol)
That said, we can be in Munich as early as 750 am to 950 am on a Sunday. I'd like to take a day trip to Fussen to see the castle(s). We then want to take the train that night (preferably no change of trains of course) to Budapest to meet up with our Hungarian friend. We want to stay in Budapest for at least three days and then visit Vienna for a day before going back to Munich for our flight home on the following Saturday at 930 am. Push comes to shove we could leave Munich on Sunday and spend more time in all places because of my benefits. Does anyone know what the walk up fare for a 7 day pass that would cover all five of these train trips? Or would we be better off since two of the kids would be free? (with purchase of adult ticket?) and buying walk up point to point tickets for each? Could we do a day bus trip to Vienna and come back to Budapest? That way we'd only need the train ticket back to Munich from Budapest and negate the need for a pass? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You definitely do not want a pass, regardless of when you arrive. You want to go to Fuessen as soon as you arrive? 27 euro for the whole family to Fuessen and back to Munich Hauptbahnhof with a Bayern ticket.
There is a direct night train at 11:40 pm from Munich to Budapest. You can try to book an advance savings fare. Do you need some kind of sleeping compartment? Book now because they are in short supply for a Sunday night. Speaking of this, when are you people going to sleep after a transatlantic flight and immediately start touring? Or are you a family of zombies? Your kids must be troopers!
Budapest to Vienna is not expensive. Vienna back to Munich can be done with a direct Sparpreis advance purchase nonrefundable ticket for 98 euro. Ride to the airport again on a Bayern ticket for 27 euro.

LOL, yes the kids are definitely troopers (and zombies too sometimes) I must say I have groomed them to be good standby travelers (they know not to get excited until the plane actually touches down in our destination).
The plan is to purposely wake up at 4 am central time to make our first connection, so that by the time (hopefully) we are into our nine hour flight that departs at 4 pm from the States , we will all be able to sleep three or four hours into the flight. We also plan to sleep as much on the train ride down to Fussen. Thanks so much for the information Sam.
