Parking Options for Extended Trip from JFK?

I'm looking at traveling for 2.5 weeks in a couple months and only JFK offers a non-stop flight. JFK is about 5-6 hours from my home.
Because of the arrival time of my return flight, plus Re-entry, it would be best to stay overnight near the airport on my return and drive home the next day.
There are no public transport options for me.
Renting a car one way coming and going is as much as parking and staying in a hotel.
There is only one (1) Park,Sleep,Fly hotel listed and their shuttle doe not run in the mid-afternoon when I would need it.
So, It seems my best option would be to park long term, rent a hotel with an airport shuttle and take the shuttle back to the

airport to retrieve my car.
Questions:
Recommended long term parking options? Should I just use the Port Authority site? Reliable, secure but $$
Recommended or NOT recommended hotels near the airport?
Thanks.

Might be an off the wall possibility, but have you looked at maybe Amtrak from Harrisburg to NYC and back? The fly in the ointment would be the 60 or so miles from Lewisburg to Harrisburg. Only a suggestion as that is how I travel from home to DC & IAD.

I live 2h15m north of JFK and bite the bullet on parking there every once in a while. (When the combination of better fares and non-stops are too persuasive) I examined all the options a number of times, and now just use the official lots. The slight savings of other options has never seemed worth it. (Especially when some are dodgy). I always book the long-term lot, accessed via Airtrain, but occasionally get emails offering upgrades to park at the terminals. I'm a sucker for a discounted upgrade...

None of the hotels around are actually liked, or present good value for money. (I've heard good things about the Hyatt at Aqueduct Casino, but that's a Subway+AirTrain transfer—a little complicated.) I have an early flight out of JFK in a few weeks and sprung for the TWA Hotel. Justified by it being an experience of its own, and my not paying for parking. (I'm 'paying' taking the train down—4 trains, actually—it's a laborious undertaking.)

There are two brand new hotels near JFK.....a Residence Inn (Marriott) and a regular Marriott (to open sometime this spring.) They are sister hotels and located next to each other. I stayed at the Residence Inn last month (it opened in December) and it was nice and new.

On the same street, in order are, the Courtyard by Marriott, Hampton Inn, Hilton, Residence Inn, Radisson and Crown Plaza. I've stayed in all but the Radisson. And I believe a few offer a park and fly option but just don't advertise it. They all have 24 hour shuttles.
