ParisMuseumPass....how best to purchase?

We are trying to find the best way to purchase the ParisMuseumPass....which is best? Prior to our trip on the wevsite, at the airport upon arrival, at a TI (if they are available there), or at our first venue? We are thinking of the 4 day pass....

Don't worry about purchasing it beforehand and paying postage. I would buy it at the airport upon arrival.

If you check out your flight information and figure out which Terminal you're arriving into, you can then consult the Aeroports de Paris website and find the appropriate terminal map in order to locate the tourist desk in your terminal so you'll know what you're looking for when you arrive!

If your first venue is a less-frequented one, it's easy to buy the pass there -- we went to the Cluny and it took only a minute (because there was no line) but buying the pass at the Louvre, Orsay or Versailles would probably negate the skip-the-line advantage for that site. No reason to do it from home.

And, in case you're not sure, don't activate the pass till the first time you use it to get into a museum. That's when the clock starts running.

Just note that at the Orsay, there's a separate ticket desk that sells the pass, so you wouldn't need to wait in the much longer general ticket line.

Sometimes there is a separate line at Musee d'Orsay. When I was there I was told that window was not open and I would have to wait in the very long line for general admission. And yes, I bonjoured and asked politely in my poor French to buy a museum pass. In future I'd buy it at the airport or a smaller museum.

Karen I agree that the kiosk window at the Orsay is not always open.. but a good nearby alternative place to buy might be Invalids Army Museum or Rodins Museums.. Museum passes are sold at both of those places.
