Hello!
I am planning a family trip to Europe June 5-19. My husband & I are in our early 40s. We will be traveling with my 19 mos old daughter & my 16 year old son - yes, you read that correctly. One was a surprise - I’ll let you guess which! :) We are traveling to attend my FIL’s 70th bday party which is in Vevey, Switzerland. Flights to & from there were too high, so we are flying in & out of CDG. Here is what I’ve “planned” so far...
6/5 - leave Lexington, KY
6/6 - arrive in Paris - stay in AirBnB near Eiffel Tower & see a few key sites nearby.
6/8 - depart for Vevey
6/8-11 - Vevey/Lausanne (fancy hotel on the lake)
6/11 - go to Italy - WHERE???
6/15 - check into AirBnB in Paris in St. Denis area. Enjoy more of Paris
6/16 - return to Lex, KY.
My son & husband mentioned Venice. I want to spend as much time on the Mediterranean as possible. Is there a compromise here? After reading other posts, I’m wondering if we should forego Italy & spend our time in Southern France instead - though this would likely disappoint everyone but the baby. We will choose AirBnB if possible, though I read a suggestion of a camp ground which my husband would LOVE!
So - I would greatly appreciate your recommendations of where to go in Italy - was thinking Cinque de Terre & Venice - or maybe Lake Como & Venice? Or... just Venice? What’s feasible with 3 full days & 2 travel days?
Also - what are your suggestions for travel from Vevey to Italy & then back to Paris from Italy - plane? Train?
Thanks so much!
