Paris to Milan

I live in the UK and want to purchase 3 adult tickets (over 60) from Gare du Lyon to Milan Central . My questions are, which website is the best to buy from? Can you reserve seats and where do you put your luggage. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thank you Dawn

In some railcars there are seats positioned back to back, leaving an inverted-V-shaped space that may be large enough for a suitcase.

If your suitcase is too large to lift overhead and store above your seat (as mine always is), the easiest thing to do is look for space on the racks often positioned not far from the door of the railcar. If I don't see space there or on a mid-car rack (not always present), I look for space between the seats. It's unusual to have a problem finding space for my bag, which is about 24". It was an issue twice on French trains in August 2019. It seemed that the entire country was on the move that month.

You can also check on the SNCF website. Their TGV trains go to Milano Porto Garabaldi, about an 8 minute cab ride to Centrale. For a trip this long, do yourself a favor and opt for a business class seat. The standard seats have very little leg room. There’s overhead storage and luggage racks near the car entrance for larger bags. Definitely buy your tickets as early as possible to get best prices.

Here using Trainline comes in handy, as they show both trains, and the prices, so you can see at a glance who is cheapest and most convenient on your day of travel.
