Paris to Bruges travel

I am flying in to Paris and will be joining a friend who is staying in Bruges. I do not really want to get on a train to Bruges after a long flight. Any suggestions for places to stay in or near Paris for one night that will make it easy to get to a train the next day? I am thinking of staying near Gare du Nord, which may not be the greatest neighborhood, but maybe there are desirable places near there that would allow one to see a few things of interest, but also get some rest?

Why not catch the TGV at CDG it only takes an hour to get to Brussels almost the same amount of time to get to Paris from CDG.
Look at the schedule to see if there is TGV going to Brussels around the time you arrive.

Yeah, that's not much longer than it would take you to get to central Paris from CDG.

OK, thanks. I am still learning the train system. I thought I had to go to Gare du Nord, Paris to get a high speed train. If our flight is on time we could catch a direct train from CDG to Brussels, that takes one hour. If not, we wait 2 more hours for a train that takes 2 hours.

That is very true - if the schedule is tight you might not want to risk waiting 3+ hours at CDG for a slow train to Brussels, whereas you can get into Paris in about an hour no matter what time you land. But what do you mean in terms of layover between landing in CDG and the train leaving for Brussels? One hour? Three hours?

Plane lands at 1115 and next direct train is at 1307. With not knowing how long customs will take and distance to get to train that seems tight.
Taking the RER into Paris and staying the night seems easier after a long flight but I wanted to get other ideas.
