Paris Museum Pass Versus The Paris Pass

I am trying to decide which to purchase... the Paris Museum Pass, Paris Pass OR Pass Museum Metrocard combo!! The Website is not real helpful as it only gives the price for the Paris Pass but lists these other options. What have all your worldly travelers bought before?

It all depends on what you're planning on doing. The Museum Pass makes sense if you're going to visit more than a couple museums in a two day (or longer) period. The Paris Paris is overpriced compared to pricing the items separately (and just how much public transportation will you need when you have the HO/HO bus anyways? It's overkill IMO) You can see the museum pass at www.parismuseumpass.com

WE did the 4 day museum pass and I was glad. With it we ended up visiting the Louve twice, which we would not have done otherwise and did not even plan to do. We also went to the Roudin, Napoléon's Tomb, Picasso, The Orsay, the arc de triomphe, and I might be leaving something out, not sure. We would not have done that if we couldn't get in all over for free so we saw a lot. We rode the metro and walked and I ended up enjoying the walking better as Paris is a beautiful city to see on foot. I don't remember seeing the option for the combo pass, so it would just depend on the price difference. Another option is buying a carnet for metro use rides, they are 10 tickets = 1 carnet and walking. We have done a HOHO bus and they serve their purpose to see a lot. The year we did it, it was slow.

I vote for the museum pass as well. We went to the Louvre, The Mussee D'Orsay, L'Orangerie(Monet's water lilies), Saint Chapelle, La Conciergerie( old fortress/prison) and the Rodin. Well worth the cost.

it depends entirely on what you're looking for. ParisPass is a more general tourist package offering you access to a greater variety of things to do - not just Paris museums, here's a link to the museums they offer. So it's up to you. What are your priorities?

The Museum pass over the Paris Pass. The Museum pass only if you think you will visit at least two sites a day ,, otherwise you are not saving any money. The line skipping value of the pass is overvalued,, I manage fine without the MP and rarely have I had to wait in long lines anywhere. There are alternate entrances where one can practically walk in,, I have used them for my last 7 or so visits,, and they were all between May and September visits( busy season).
The Rodin rarely has lines of more then 10 minutes,, and they sell a SAME day combo pass for the Orsay( which is close by) so you will skip the ticket line there. The Eiffel Tower does not accept the pass, to skip lines the only way is to either make reservations at the restaurant( not the cafe) or book your ticket online well ahead of time to recieve a time entry ticket. The Museum pass is good for Versailles,, although you also have the option of buying that ticket online ahead of time too.. but if you plan on seeing two museums one day, then Versailles the next, using a 2 day MP you will have made your money back . The Towers of Notre Dame do accept the pass, but the pass will not allow you to skip the long slow moving line there( they only let 20 people up at once ,, so you can be waiting a long time) , the solution there is to arrive 1/2 hr BEFORE it opens. Some museums do not have line issues( like the Cluny) or are free(Carnelet ) so do your research. So basically , its up to you ,, what do you want to see?

It's easy to see if the museum pass is worth it to you: add up the cost of the museums you want to visit in a consecutive-day period, look at how much the museum pass is, and if they're about the same or cheaper, go with the museum pass. The metrocard combo is helpful if you're going to be taking the metro a lot, are not staying in walking distance of any of sights, that sort of thing. Look at a metro map, try to figure it out based on your day to day itinerary. You'll get a good feel if you're going to be schlepping all over the place or not.

I do the Museum Pass, I can get a lot seen in those few days and skip the lines and you can revisit places as much as you want so if you want to go back to the Louvre ten times you can as long as you do with the time frame of your card, climb the the Arc during the day and at night...
it just makes things more convenient
