Has anyone taken the 1 or 2 day hop on/hop off tours in Paris? If so, which company did you use? Also did anyone use this form of transportation to and/or from CDG airport?
The hop-on hop-off tours do not go to the airports.
I have never done one in Paris but have in other cities i have visited. I find them a good way to get an overall look at the city and get my bearings. There is one listed on the viator site which looks like the standard type of tour. I jsut googled 'paris+bus tour' and it came up.
yes, there is at least one company that offers transport to and from de Gaulle airport..I was curious if anyone had used it.
my personal favorite Paris hop on/hop off tour is a day pass on the metro
Susan, Air France buses and the Roissybus operate between CDG and Paris, but these are not tour buses. Were you thinking of them or some other company?
No airport info. but we took the Red Bus tour, just a day pass, in Paris, and the same in London. It is a good way to get an overview of the city and as opposed to the Metro, we saw many more sights just riding along. We did "Hop-Off" for some quick sites (Notre Dame, the Arch De Triumpfe, etc.) but went to the more involved sites by Metro the next day (Louvre, etc.) This way, the day pass was plenty.
We have used Le Car Rouge and found it excellent. One might use this to orient oneself and then use it for transportatiion to the many sites represented. The metro is the biggest bargain in the city--fast and economical and great advice and assistance from the staff in each station. We used the metro and RER to and from CDG and saved the outrageous cost of a shuttle/cab.
Susan,
I've used the Red Bus tours and as the others mentioned, they're a good way to get an "overview" of the main sites in Paris. The red earphones are a bit "tacky" and some of the audio connections always seem to be defective (there are connections at each seat to plug-in the headphones), but I always enjoy the tours. I sometimes use them to rest my weary feet for a few hours!
AFAIK, none of these types of "hop on-hop off" tours offer service to CDG, however there are at least two Shuttle Bus services providing airport service. They're listed in Rick's Guide books.
