Does anyone know about the best flee markets in Paris. I will be there in Dec. with my mother and we would love to hit some of them as we did not on the last trip. Any info would be appreciated.
Check hours of the ones that interest you. The Clingancourt marker is fascinating but you have to find it behind stands and stands of cheap clothing racks. Once you're in, the stalls are fascinating. There's really no way to advise you where to go - it's too sprawling and varied. It has a website, though, so you can get a better idea of what to look for.
I have to agree with the above. The Clingcourt is the best, most guide books will advise you. I rarely buy there though, deals are long gone, but there is some really interesting stuff, especially if you are into vintage clothing and antiques, and Americana stuff. Don't let the stands outside deter you. WATCH YOUR STUFF! This is pick-pocket paradise, especially if you are with your mom and speaking English.
Keep an eye out or look for a guide there are regular markets through out the city for brocante or antiques. Sometimes this can be very organized and sometimes it is just like a yardsale.
Look for marches brocante.
Oh I don't know about December though... worth a look.
There are lots of brocante markets in Paris . We really love Port de Vanves. It is on the weekends . Great, cheap. lots of things. You can actually get some very nice paintings for a reasonable price. Look on the metro map for Port de Vanves metro stop.
