Paris and London (plus more of England) or Paris, Bruges and Amsterdam with 11 and 13 year old?

We will be traveling to Europe with our 11 and 13 year old in June. We have taken them to Europe once before (Southern Germany, Venice, and Austria) and they travel great. We are going to Paris for sure and trying to decide if we will do Paris and London (add on Bath, Cotswold area, and York) or if we should do Paris, Bruges, and Amsterdam. Trying to determine what would be more fun for them. My husband and I have been to Paris before but that is it - so looking for suggestions/opinions? Thank you!

More of England sounds great but I think they’d be bored to tears in Bath and the Cotswolds. York has more to offer kids/tweens of their ages.

Easier to make suggestions if we knew the duration of the trip. It won't be "fun" for anyone, parent or child, to move hotels or countries every day or two.

I haven't been to Belgium except passing through, but I took 8 and 11 year olds to Scotland, England, and Amsterdam on a three-week trip. My advice would be to try to avoid a long journey between cities. The Eurostar from London to Brussels and then another train to Amsterdam wasn't really fun.

You know your children - what did they enjoy about the previous trip? Ask them. Encourage them to look a books about London and Amsterdam and see which one has more appeal.

I'd probably pick Paris-Bruges-Amsterdam mainly because there is so much to see in England and Scotland that you'll want to set up a separate trip for that in the future.

I think either option would be great. London is great, of course. We did Bath and the Cotswolds and loved it. Our kids were younger then though. It depends on how much city time v country time your family likes. We tend more towards cities but it can be nice to break it up with some villages here and there, which the English option allows. You can’t go wrong either way though, so that’s good.

What has made you choose Bath, York and The Cotswolds?

If you're going to York why not combine it with a wider visit to the Yorkshire area or the Northumberland coast? No need to slog it down to The Cotswolds, you'll find just as attractive, if not more attractive, countryside and villages in the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales. Don't fall into the trap of following the well worn path of English "must visit places", there's a whole lot more to England than London, Bath and The Cotswolds, in fact the last two wouldn't even feature in my top 10.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We have enough time and have been to Europe a handful of times before so we know to not move around too much, etc. My husband and I like to break the cities up with smaller towns - but, wasn't sure what some of the smaller towns in England had to offer for our kids. We know there is always plenty to do in the cities. Our previous trip with the kids we found plenty to do in the smaller towns (castles in Germany, salt mine in Austria, etc.). I think I will get some books and have them research a bit. Thanks everyone!

We’ve done Great Britain with our kids in the past (similar ages). I think York would be a hit with your kids. There is a lot to see and do, and it’s a very manageable city. My kids also really enjoyed Edinburgh if you have the time to head further north.

Closer to London, they enjoyed a day out in Canterbury, especially punting on the river through town. Another good day out was Hampton Court Palace. We also did Hever Castle - very enjoyable.

The Cotswolds and Bath were not their favorite places.... but, they did absolutely love Warwick Castle, north of the Cotswolds. That was one of their top days in England.

If your kids are Harry Potter fans, add Durham and possibly a Mad Max tour from Bath that includes HP sights.
