I would LOVE to find a way to pack light for my trip, but I need to attend a 3 day business conference before I take some vaction time. Is it possible to bring an extra bag and maybe stuff it with my work clothes and leave it at a locker somewhere?
Stu,
How dressy do you have to be for the conference? Suits and ties? Dockers and dress shirts? Depending on the dress requirements, you might be able to combine purposes.
Otherwise, you probably will be able to find a locker to store your stuff. (where are you going?) The other option might be to ship your work clothes home on the slow boat (cheaper). The only downside is that you'll have to do without those outfits for about 6-8 weeks once you get home because surface shipping does take a while.
Have the same problem and It's a pain. I try to combine the wardrobe but it can be hard. Otherwise I pack up what I don't want and ship home. I find it takes anywhere between 2 - 5 weeks to get to Aust. I once received my package in a week as they sent it airmail and not the surface I had paid for. Luck of the draw - apparently they will load surface mail in the air mail container if it's not full.
One way to get around the business part is to pack a mix n match wear. For example, if you have to wear a suit, consider using a nice jacket which you can wear with your office pants, and then match it up with jeans.
For ladies, try packing skirts or dresses which can be wrinkled. Most hotels have irons or you can put in the bathroom and "steam" the wrinkles out.
Remember if you want to go on vacation, there are shops you can BUY your fun clothes!
