We travel about twice a year and always do some sort of hiking trip. This year we are doing Italy and a self guided trip through Tuscany. I really want to travel with just a carry on because when we arrive we will be using buses and trains to get to some cities and I would like to have just one bag (not sure if that is possible when taking our hiking things). BUT I don't know if my poles are allowed on the plane (in the cabin) and I did not get a straight answer from customer service. I have always packed them in our checked luggage.
As far as the hiking boots. I will not wear them on the plane they are just too bulky. What I did so for our trip to the Grand Canyon in May was carry them on the plan in bags from the supermarket. We were allowed our backpacks and this one bag. How will that work for overseas? Any suggestions from other hikers?
