Does anyone use a packing list app on their smartphone? I pack quite light (with aim to use a washing machine every 4 to 5 days) and pack differently from RS list. Many basic list apps but maybe there is something better out there for travel?
Also, any other very useful apps from food to maps? Too many to chose from so it is valuable to hear from the "travel trenches."
For my iPad (I'm sure it would work on a smartphone as well), I love citymaps2go...which you can use offline (you only need to connect up when you first arrive in the city, then you can use it offline and it will pinpoint where you are...and I love to pin all the places I want to see in a city before hand and then I can make sure I don't miss something if we are in a certain neighbourhood).
For before I go away, my packing list is on Packing Pro so I don't forget anything. I'm sure I paid for the upgrade which has more options (as opposed to the free version - I've had it for years now - first on my iPod).
I also love travelpod for keeping a day to day diary that I can share with my friends and family. I've used NoteLedge as sort of a pre-trip scrapbook - whereas before I would have carried a small notebook with things I printed and taped into the book, now I can just put things in my noteledge journal - like, well...notes about what to tentatively do each day, or cut and paste directions/maps from the internet and see them offline.
Lodging, post offices, attractions, laundromats, chocolate shops, HRC, and anything i dont want to miss.
HRC?
For maps/directions traveling where I would have to pay a fortune for data on my phone, I use Navigator by MapFactor (http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/en/). You can download free or paid version of maps ahead of time (I've only ever used the free maps and they have gotten me anywhere I needed to go), so no data charges. Only available on Windows and Android (no iOS).
I love Planapple for organizing my plans (http://www.planapple.com). I like it better than TripIt, but it's pretty similar. Use it on your computer in a browser, and then send your plans to your phone.
I haven't used a packing list app, but PackPoint (for Android and iOS) looks promising.
