Can any Pacific Northwesterners recommend a store in the Bellinghamn/Lynnwood corridor where I can see a good selection of travel gear? I am particularly interested in being able to compare convertible suitcase/backpacks. I've checked a bunch out online, but would like an opportunity to try on and see for myself. Won't be going farther south than Seattle Premium Outlet mall.
REI in Bellingham and Lynnwood
=================
The REI in Seattle is much larger.
Also if you haven't been to the Rick Steves store in downtown Edmonds ... it is pretty interesting.
Steve
Offhand, I can think of REI in Bellingham, though not sure how many suitcases they'll have. I've seen some travel supplies there though. If you are willing to go as far south as the Premium Outlet Mall, I'd see if maybe you could squeak out another 20-30 minutes south to Edmonds and go to Rick's store. They will have all his gear there to look at.
I'll try and think of more in Bellingham area....
And if you end up farther south in Edmonds at the RS store, also check out the big travel store in Edmonds (I want to say it's the Savvy Traveler, but I might have the name wrong). They had a really nice selection of gear there and also plenty of travel goodies that you can't live without.
Nothing in Vancouver?
Good thought Brad, but I'm not actually going to Vancouver! Access to I5 to Seattle via Bellingham means us Islanders can avoid Vancouver. I'll save that for another shopping trip "off the rock"
Find the time to go down to Edmonds, WA and visit Rick Steves place as well as the Savvy Traveler (sp?). Easy to find parking around RS place and short walk to the other. Some interesting places to eat in Edmonds also.
The last time I was in Victoria I went to the Mountain Equipment CO-OP which is similar to REI and they had a good selection of packs. If you do have the time, make your way to Edmonds and go the RS travel center. The Savvy Traveler is also a great store.
